Trespassing
In response to resident concerns about trespassers using Harbour Lights community property, the board requested help from the Indian Harbour Beach police department to address the problem. Below is a copy of the letter to Chief David Butler.
Dear Chief Butler:
This letter is a request from our Board of Directors for the assistance of the Indian Harbour Beach Police Department in deterring the increasing numbers of trespassers on Harbour Lights Association property. A recent uptick in occurrences involves mostly teenagers from outside the neighborhood trespassing to avail themselves of our retention ponds to fish and our sports court (which is intended ONLY for basketball, tennis, and pickle ball) to ride bikes and skateboards, and other activity which can damage the court surface.
As an example, two recent incidents involved teenagers driving onto Harbour Lights property and attempting to kick down the gate of the tennis court for access (which had to be repaired), and net casting for fish into our “catch and release” retention ponds. When approached by a resident and his wife, they were met on both occasions with obscenities and disrespectful behavior, to put it mildly.
Harbour Lights is clearly posted at our entryway as “Private Property, No Trespassing”. We now officially ask for your assistance in curbing this arrogant violation of our privacy, to include issuance of formal trespassing violations.
Sincerely:
Frank Whitney
President
